In 2024, SIDF resumes its mission at full steam delighting audiences by reaching across the globe and throughout the Pacific Northwest to present contemporary dance artists who bring creativity and vitality to our community. In this rare coupling of local and global contemporary dance, Seattle residents are invited to experience the festival’s creative hotbed of world-defining dance-making.
Walking into a show at SIDF, produced by Khambatta Dance Company since 2006, is like walking into an embassy, where everyone speaks international dance. The thrill of different languages being bandied about, artists working to bridge cultural and aesthetic gaps, and dancers physically sharing their personal intimate space using only the language of the body to guide them – this is the flair of the SIDF experience. Bringing local, national, and international dance

SIDF in its 19th year will present its 9-day celebration of contemporary dance with over 20 local, national, and international companies, and 120 artists in a genre-bending overview of the field of contemporary dance. This year’s artists kick open the definitions of who dances Ballet, fuse the toe-tapping styles of tap dance and Bharatnatyam in a polyrhythmic contemporary feast, and showcase exquisite contemporary ensemble work so unified, it will haunt your dreams.
